J. Dar- ragh was chosen city physician and Dr. E. A. Shannon was retired. This was done because of a lower bid sub- mitted by Dr. Darragh. The coun- cil members admitted that Dr. Shan- non has been one of the best city physieians that: the city of Bemidji has ever had. The affairs of the city physician’s office have never been in a better condition than they are at this time. No former city physician has ever taken better care of the duties of the office than has Dr. Shannon. He can retire at this time knowing that he did his work well and that his work is appreciated by the citizens of Bemidji. WHO AM I? Charles Kunitzke, ‘'who was work- ing near Skidder No. 2, was hit by a log which was being hauled to the machine. His leg was broken and he was at once taken to Kelliher where Dr. Laney attended him. Mr. Kunitzke ‘was accompanied by his brother, Frank, to St. Anthony’s hos- pital at Bemidji the next day. Last week ‘was a big week for Skidder No. 2,-having hauled and loaded 303,020 feet of logs. The two steam skidders and jam- mer hauled and loaded 27 cars of logs at Camp 3 on Wednesday, March 15. Some of the men at camp must have got the wanderlust as many are leaving camp. W. J. Helin, who has been scaling logs here for many months, left for Bemidji where he will accept a posi- tion as sawyer at the mill. We all hate to see Mr. Helin go as he is well liked here by everyone. ‘Thomas Olson, who has worked here for some time, left for Bemidji on Saturday where he will go to St. Anthony’s hospital on account of a severe cold.
