E. H. MARCUM, Clerk of Session. 2423 CITY MAY LOCATE REST ROOM IN BASEMENT OF LIBRARY (Continued from Page 1) under a Bew law the city attorney, on account of having a municipal court here, must prosecute all mis- demeanors brought before him from any part of the county. He pointed out that the work of the office took up a large amount of time and that there was no city in the state that paid as small a salary as is paid by Bemidji. He stated that during the past year over twice the sal- ary of the attorney was saved by sev- eral court actions. Upon a vote of the council it was decided to leave the salary the same as last year. Treasurer’s Salary Reduced. The only other change in the sal- aries is that of the city treasurer. The city treasurer formerly received $35 a month and the bond was paid by the city. This year the ecity treasurer’s salary is raised to $40 a month but he must secure his own bond. The cost of a bond per year is about $80, so under the new sal- ary the city treasurer will receive $20 less than last year. Judge Gets $1,300. The salaries of the city officers are as follows: Judge of the municipal court, $1,300 per year; clerk of the municipal court, $30 per month; city attorney, $70 per month; city treas- urer, $40 per month, city clerk, $100 per month; janitress of dormitory, $10 per month; drivers of motor truck and janitors, $75 per month; chief of police, $80 per month; patrolmen, $70 per month; city en- gineer and street commissioner, $100 per month; water clerk, $65 per month; librarian, $40 per janitor of library, $15 per month; city assessor, $500 per year; health officer subject to bids; boarding pau- pers subject to bids. Runners for Truck. Alderman Miller showed members of the council plans for sleigh run- ners for the front wheels of the fire motor truck. .He explained that the truck could not be run now on ac- count of deep snow; that a team was being hired at the cost of $35 per month and that it costs one dollar a day to feed the team, making a total cost of $65. He suggested that the city buy a set of runners for the truck which he estimated would cost about $25. Upon Alderman Mo- month, | ! ' THE BEMIDJI DAILY PIONEER berg’s motion Alderman Miller was instructed to secure such runners for the motor truck. May Build Bridge. A resolution was passed to be pre- cented to the board of county com- missioners requesting a return of tax levy under a provision of the Dunn law, the fund to be used for the con- struction of a bridge across the in- let of the Mississippi on the road to Nymore. The amount to be return- cd will be about $5,000. Another Wonderful Recafiry From Kidney Trouble For nearly nine years I was a great sufferer from what my doctor said was Kidney trouble and my blood was out of order; enduring all that time excruciating pain in my back and across my bowels. I was drawn down so that I could only walk with my hands on my knees. My doctor said he could do nothing for me. I tried many kinds of medicine but all to no avail. A friend told me about Dr. Kilmer’s Swamp-Root, and as I had tried everything else that I heard of, I bought a bottle of Swamp-Root and it did wonders for me. I prize it higher than any other medicine and I shall recommend it to my friends. I wish to add right here months I began to straighten up and am now sound and well, and feel like I might live a long time yet to tell what your medicine has done for me. Yours very truly, T. C. CLAY, 750 Sugar St. Marion, Ohio. State of Ohio ) Marionr County ) Personally appeared before me this 19th day of December, A. D., 1914, T. C. Clay, who subscribed to the above statement and made oath that the same is true in substance and in fact. CHARLES W. HABERMAN, Notary Publie, Marion Co., Ohio. | Tetter to | Dr. Xilmer & Co.
