. $300,000 SUIT FILED IN SIOUX FALLS COURT Sioux Falls, S. D., Oct. 1.—The Nebraska newspaper union, with headquarters at Omaha, Neb., yes- terday instituted in the TUnited States court of this city, suit by which it seeks to recover damages in the sum of $300,000 from the West- ern Newspaper Union of Maine, which has a branch in Sioux Falls, upon which papers in the suit were served. The plaintiff company al- leges that the defendant company has violated the Sherman anti-trust act, and that because of this it has virtually destroyed the business of the plaintiff. Both companies were organized for the purpose of furnish- ing ready prints and plate matter to newspapers. DEATH IS EIGHTEENTH IN FARMER’S FAMILY Coleman, Wis., Oct. 1.—The long series of calamities in the family of John Ermies, a farmer near here, was continued today with the death of Emily, his 18-year-old daughter, died of lockjaw from a pitchfork wound. - In \twenty‘ yeéars Ermis has lost by death two wives and sixteen children, seven of the deaths being those of accidents. DRUGGISTS OPPOSE TAX ON MEDICINE Santa Barbara, Cal., Oct. 1.—The national wholesale druggists select- ed Baltimore as the 1916 conven- tion city and elected Charles Gibson of Albany, N.
