Either Style 50 cents to $1 50 'RESTA AND D’PALMA TO FURNISH ENTERTAINMENT AT TRACK OPENING With the entry blanks of Dario Resta and Ralph DePalma, the two greatest Italian drivers, signed and. in, it is certain that the opening 500 mile derby at the Twin City Motor Speedway on September 4, will see one of the best battles for first place the sport has ever known. These men ‘are’ among the master drivers honors in this modern game of two- mile-a-minute speed. During June, De Palma was the champion, but be- fore the month had ended Resta had taken all honors by winning the 500 mile race at Chicago, at an average speed of 97.64 miles per hour. De Palma defated Resta at Indian- apolis this year and won that race, but did not start against Resta at Chicago. Even though such wonder- ful time was made in this latter race, friends of De Palma state that he would have forced the winner to greater speed had he been in that race. Since the Indianapolis affair, Bemidji, O’Leary-Bowser Co. the men have not met and this race at the Twin City Motor Speedway will give them their opportunity to fight for the speed supremacy of the world. The entry, too, of this pair gives the coming race a true championship tinge and the remainder of the great Subseribe for The Pioneer drivers of the world will enter with- out a doubt during the next few days. In fact, the majority of them have al- ready notified the Speedway Company that they will be in competition and You'll have no more use for your head if you buy one of — these vest pocket Loose Leaf ‘ I-P booklets. UNITED STATES GATHERS WORLD’S DIAMOND SUPPLY London, June 26.—(By Mail)—The United States will have a corner on diamonds for years to some. Infor- mation at hand in the British foreign office today shows America is practi- cally the only country in .the world buying diamonds and the American appetite for them is amazing. Hun- dreds of thousands of sparklers are being exported from Germany -to America via Holland. When war broke out a Berlin syndicate which bought the bulk of West African diamonds had in stock a million and a half carats. These have been cut at low rates by craftsmen in Belgium and disposed of almost wholy to the United States. Less than a year the ago the syndi- cate that controls the out put of the De Beers and Jagersfontein African miners had a stock of four million carats. Since war was declared the, mines have been idle but the syndi- cate has not. It has exported the greater part of its stock to the United States.
