E. Miller, who has received his appointment as steam vessel and boiler inspector of this senatorial district, and not George I Jones of the Bagley Herald. Mr. Jones was named oil inspector. plm bt Should Be Well Represented. Coleraine is making elaborate pre- parations for the summer meeting of the Northern Minnesota Develop- ment association which is to be held there June tenth and eleventh. Many of the state’s most promin- ent men will attend the meeting, in- cluding Governor Hammond, Auditor Preus and members of the legislature. An-extensive and helpful program is ‘being arranged. The range city is to provide many special entertain- ment features, it being the purpose of officials to make the gathering as attractive as possible. It is hoped that the meeting will be as well or better attended than those which have ‘been held previously. The members of the association are men who are interested in the progz- ress of Northern Minnesota and ‘whose energies are applied to accom- plish the development which comes as*a result of publicity and organi- zation. Bemidji, the birth-place of the or- ganization and the meeting place of the 1915 winter convention, should be represented at the Coleraine meet- ing'by a large number of delegates. UNGLE SAM-BUYS TW.0- DIRIGIBLES New York, April 20.—Uncle Saa|COUrse across a 15-mile puffy wind. today opened bids for the construe- tion of two dirigible-balloons. for the United :States navy. testing out of this government of the value “of the'Zeppelin type of air- craft, which has alteadyplayed & prominent part in the European war. Henry Woodhouse, chairman of the dirigible committee of the ‘Aero Club of America, received from the navy department last month, a batch of proposed blanks and through the efforts of Mr. Woodhouse, it is be- lieved New York aeronautical circles have become interest in this latest effort on the part of the navy to bring its aircraft efficiency up to the high standard maintained by the Eu- Topean powers. The proposals call for the manu- facture of two dirigibles of the non- rigid type, which will -not be over 175 feet long by fifty feet high and 35 feet wide, capable of carrying a load of 2,000 pounds or more. Uncle Sam’s' new dirigibles must. also be able to ascend to at least 3,000 feet with a full load without disposing of ballast and must be able, also to come down not slower than six feet per second. It’s not an easy matter to build an airship under such rigid qualifica- tions. Not only must the craft have a speed of 25 miles per hour but must be able to keep up such speed for at least two hours. She will carry a car with an enclosed body, suffi- clent to carry a crew of eight men:|K@n- of Which she has been the di- Another unusual feature of the new navy airships will be their ability, as specified in the proposals of contractors, to rest lightly on the water without damage and also Lo move through the water at slow speed. ‘When completed the new dirigi- bles will be set up at the navy aero- nautical station at Pensacola, Fla., where a number of trials will be made to see that the aircraft comes up to all requirements. Some of the stunts they must perform are interesting. The first test will be for speed, with dirigibles loaded to capacity. She will make five runs over a meas- ured course and navy officers wiil thus be enabled to check up acenr- ately on her real speed. The secord test will show the craft’s ability to ‘FDi “climb” from the surface of the wa= |} i A ) E ter up to and beyond the specified al- Your Grand- mother Knew What to Do Sheused theFresh,Sweet Heal- lw Herbs that Nature Gives ' henSheFeltBadly orany of the Family was Sick.
