Change Game Laws. There is from all parts of Minne- sota the demand that the state’s game laws be revised, and it is encouraginz to note that the legislature appears to.favor a change. In this, the Min- nesota Game .and Fish Protective League. is. much interested. There are several important num- bers on the program. One is the eatablishment .of civil service for state: game wardens. Also the League Legislative committee has completed a re-codification of the state- game laws, now somewhat am- biguous and misleading. Also the league wishes to establish a game re- fuge on Lake Minnetonka and the land around the lake for a mile or a mile and a half back from the shore line and another at Grand Rapids. This game refuge can be establish- ed by the State Game and Fish com- mission without any action by the legislature, but to obtain civil ser- vice and re-codification legislative ac- tion will be necessary. One section of the present game laws prescribe that a hunter may kill but one deer. Another section makes it almost equally clear that the hunter is entitled to two deer. This is but one of the contradictory sec- tions. The League Legislative com- mittee has gone over the game laws of every state and is satisfied that it/ has. a complete, clear comprehensiv: set-of laws. This is accompanied by an index system which makes it easy! to find the law on any given sub- . Ject.
