GERMANS | DRIVE OUT RUSSIANS EastFrussiaClearof Czar’s Troops. SITUATION IMPROVED, SAYS BERLIN REPORT Teutonic Armies Again Invade Russian Poland in Consid- erable Numbers. Berlin, via The Hague, Sept. 14.— The Germens are driving the Rus- sians out of East Prussia, according to an official announcement made at the war office. The German reinforcements have clashed with the Russian advance and the latter has retired in disorder in the direction of the frontier. Ger- man troops, co-operating with the Austrians, have checked the Russian advance from Lemberg and are now pushing them back in the general di- rection of that city. Germans and Austrians are again in Russian Poland in strong force and the situation in the eastern the- ater of war is described as very much improved from the German-Austrian viewpoint. A strong force has been sent to at- tack the Russians who have been be- sieging Koenigsberg and the an- nouncement that that city has been relieved is expected momentarily. The war office made no announce- ment regarding the progress of the battle in the west. The attack on the strong forces of Verdun is proceeding very success- fully and its reduction and capture is considered certain. RUSSIAN SUCGESSES IN AUSTRIA CONTINUE , Sept. 14.—That the Rus- slan field ha ain gained notable successes over the Austrians and s the Russian Po- land frontiers was an- nounced at the war office. In addition it is declared the driv- ing movement of the Russians against the Austrian main army has resulted in the complete cutting off of the Aus- trian left wing, commanded by Gen- eral Dankl, and that its capture or de- struction is now considered certain. The war office confirms the reported capture of zow, on the tussian border, wheve General von Autienbe an troops were re- ported It is an authenti: Petrogra source, that there will be no general advance into Bast Prus- sia at this time. The Russian cam- paign has becn planned for the com- plete crushing of the Austrian force. When Avstria is crushed and the effectiveness of its fighting line end- ed then the Russian main army will move against Berlin. But at no time will it be moved through East Prus- sia. The campaign in that section will be more of a defensive than of an offensive movement. Fighting Near Antwerp. Paris, Sept. 14.—In an official state- ment it ¥ announced that in Belgium the Belgian army is acting vigorously against the German troops who are before the fortified position of Ant- werp. BLASS OF SALTS CLEANS KIDNEYS If your Back is aching or Bladder bothers, drink lots of water and eat less meat. When your kidneys hurt and your back feels sore, don’t got scared and proceed to load your stomach with a lot of drugs that excite the kidneys and irritate the entire urinary tract. Keep your kidneys clean like you keep your bowels clean, by flushing them with a mild, harmless salts which removes the body’s urinous waste and stimulates them to their nor- mal activity. The function of the kid- neys is to filter the blood. In 24 hours they strain from it 500 grains of acid and waste, so we can readily understand the vital importance of keeping the kid- neys active. Drink lots of water—you can’t drink 00 much; also get from any pharmacist alout four ounces of Jad Salts; take a tublespoonful in a glass of water | before breakfast each morning for a few days and your kidneys will act fine. This famous salts is made from the acid of grapes and lemon juice, combined with lithia, and has been tused for genera- tions to clean and stimulate ologged kid- neys; also to neutralize the acids in urine so it no longer is a source of irri- tation, {hus ending bladder weakness. Tad Salts is inexpensive; cannot-in- jure; makes a delightful effervescent lithia-water drink which everyone should take now and then to keep their kid- y8 clean and active. Try this, also keep up the water drinking, and no doubt yon will .wonder what became of THE STORE Special Saleon Children's & Misses’ Dresses We were fortunate enough to buy a good lot of Children’s and Misses’ sample dresses. Rustem Bey, Turkish am- bassador, that his published state- ment of several days ago as to the “unfairness of the press of the United States to Turkey,” was accurate but not intended to reflect in any way on the United States government, it is understood the incident will be closed. President Wilson asked Secretary Bryan to inquire of Ambassador Bey whether the statement credited to him had been correctly published. Discussing the action of Turkey in abrogating extraterritorial and other special privileges of its treaties with foreign powers, Ambassador Bey said it was a step taken so that Turkey might be mistress in her own house.
