= THURSDAY, APRIL 9, 1914, LABOR TROUBLES REVIVED Molders Accuse Founders of Trying to Break Up Organization. ‘Washington, April 9.—Bitter contro- versies of many years’ standing be- tween the- National Founders’ asso- ciation and the International Molders’ union were revived when-representa- tives of the two organizations .told the United States commission on in- dustrial relations why they have not been able to maintain a trade agree- ment. John P. Frey of Cincinnati, editor of the Molders’ Journal, charged that the founders’ associafion had main- tained a corps of strikebreakers and spies in an effort to break up the union. 0. P. Briggs of Chicago, former president of the founders’ association, charged the union men with trying to limit the output of founders’ shops. AGED COUPLE HANG SELVES End Lives Believing They Are Burden on Their Grandchildren. New York, April 9.—Despondent be- cause they believed they were a bur- den to the grandchildren, Jacob Theis, seventy-nine years old, and his wife, seventy-eight years, committed sui- oide by hanging themselves in the home of their grandson. The old couple made. careful prepa- rations for their death. The husband helped his wife adjust the noose around her neck. He dropped about 1,200 feet. Chicago Mayor on Trip. Chicago, April 9.—Mayor Carter H. Harrison has left for a two weeks’ trip in Arizona and the Southwest. Mayor Harrison recently planned to make a trip to Florida, but was forced to remain at home on the orders of his physicians. Miner Falls Down Shaft. Duluth, April 9.—John J. Ockovich was killed instantly when he fell down the shaft of the Knox mine at Mesaba.
