IS PAPER REPRE.:ENTED FOR HJREIGY\ - ADVERTISING BY THE GENERAL OFFICES NEW YORK AND CHICAGO RARANCHES IN ALL THE PRINCIPAL CITIEY Reducing the High Cost of Living If there really was a possibility of any one being able to sell goods very much cheaper than the ordinary re- tail store, that person or that con- cern would make such tremendous gains in business that there wouldn't ‘be any trade left for the local stores, for in these days of high cost of liv- ing, every body is looking around to see if he can save something on the purchase price. And here is a very important fact: The real careful-buyer doesn’t send his money away from home, for he has found out that in the long run he gets more real value, better ser- vice and greater satisfaction when he buys from his home town merchants, and this is how he found it out: One day he receives a catalog from a Chicago mail order house in which were offered many and varied kinds of merchandise. He happens to want a rain coat, so naturally he turns to page 267 of the catalog where he finds a cheap one—the “leader” on the page—offered at $4.95, but he knows that he can get the same kind of a coat from his home town clothier at $5.00, so that doesn't interest him a great deal. A little farther on, he finds one, at $10.50, which seems to suit his ideas better. The description is at- tractive, but he concludes to see what such a coat can be bought for in his own 1own, and he finds the price is §10.00, fifty cents less than he would have kad to pay to send away. to say nothing about the cost of the draft, money order and the ex- press charges, besides having to wait for a week and then possibly get one that didn’t fit just right. Always go to your home town dealer first when you need anything. It means money in your pocket. Word comes that Thief River TFalls is chuckling over that. Why not have everybody file and then when the primaries areé over the candidates will all be eliminated, save two, and likewise the bump of ego of some of those who are anxious to save their country,—Koll’'s Kollum, Cass Lake Times. —— 11. J. Maxfield, republican candi- date for congressional nomination in this district, who has been over the district getting acquainted with the eople and sounding ° sentiment re- garding his candidacy, finds a very satisfactory condition ang he is san- guine as to the outcome. His re- cent trip has been'through the nor- thern part of the district, an Bel- trami county, one of the new ad- ditions to the Sixth district by the last legislature, will give him a sur- prisingly large vote if present indi- cation are to be depended on—Brain- erd Dispatch. WOULD DEPORT MILITANTS London Paper Declares It Course Left. London, March 2*.—Lady Bathurst, successor to her father, the late Lord Glenesk, as owner and controlling spirit of the London Morning Post, au- thorizes the publication of a leading article declaring the militant suffra- gettes have become “so grave a na- tional nuisance” that they must be suppressed. “It is useless to pretend,” says the article, “that militancy is either fin- ished or diminishing, The contrary is the case. The repressive meagures hitherto used have failed. Outrages multiply and defiance increases. inet ministers require bodygu: wherever they go and their houses must be constantly. yml;gd, The king and gueen are often ans d, taurants, thaatergrl,w hurches invaded by declfim&tg}; uffrage! Burnings and mutilations are npomd in every part of m country.” . .. 1s Only @ 7798 Much moire is being used for dresses just now and the new quality .is soft and delightfully supple. The shades, too, are most attractive; several shades of green are being shown, and there are browns and blues to meet all de- mands. These last named seem to be growing in favor every day. No. 7798 is a design that is excellent- ly suited to moire. It has a drop-shoul- der, a sailor-and Medici collar and a two-piece skirt. 1f a dull brown moire were used the inset vest could be silk eponge in soft, harmonizing colors. A new and practical idea, noted on many ready made dresses of silk, Is. to use a wide facing of cloth in the same shade as the sill. This protects the skirt at the bottom and weights them just enough to make them hang well, To make this dress, No. 7798, in size 86 requires 4% yards of 36 inch ma- terial. The pattern is cut in 5 sizes; 34 to 42~ This Is a Perfect Pattern. Be sure to give right size, measuring over the fullest part of the bust for dimensions.
