Chicago, March 16.—A marked ef— fect upon stock exchange business was predicted to result from the operation of the federal reserve act by William Amasa Scott of the University of: Wis- consin in an address to the Western Economic society. “It seems certain that the call loan business on the New York Stock Ex- change will be' considerably diminish- ed. The reserve funds now devoted almost exclusively te that business shall be diverted to other uses and commercial paper will compete with the loans on the open mnrket,“ he said.
