Hancock, Mich., Feb. 24—Wives of: striking miners testified before the congressional committee that they had been kicked and beaten by deputy sheriffs and otherwise.mistreated by gnldiers without cause. Mrs. Boris Fodar charged that on July 30 last Under Sheriff Heikkila grabbed her by the hair and dragged her into the yard of her home at Ker- sarge. She said deputies and soldiers were searching for her husband and the under sheriff attacked: her when she refused to tell where he was. One soldier hit her with his gun, she said, and two others fired into the door of her kitchen.
