MAURY DIGGS FOUND GUILTY Jury Convicts en Four Counts of the Indictment, San Francisco, Aug. 2°.—Maury I Diggs, former state architect of Cali- fornia, was found guilty of violating the Mann white slave act in eloping with Marsha Warrington from Sacra- mento to Reno. There were six counts in the in- dictment and the jury found a ver- dict of guilty on the first four. Each connt carries a maximum penalty of five years and a minimum of one year in a federal penitentiary. Counsel for the defense announced that they would appeal to the high- est court in the land and asked for ten days in which to petition for a writ of error to the United States cir- cuit court of appeals. F. Drew Caminetti, co-defendant with Maury I. Diggs, has been placed on trial before Judge Van Fleet. Marsha Warrington and Lola Nor- ris, the two sorority sisters whose tes- timony was the mainstay of the case against Diggs, will be called to repeat the story of their disgrace.
