BAKING POWDER | Absolutely Pure - The only Baking Powder made from Royal Grape Cream of Tartar NO ALUM, NO LIME PHOSPHATE INDIANS HAVE TROUBLE (Continued from first page). the purpose of the government men to prevent the Indians from organiz- ing out of fear that it they do be- come organized they will not be in better position to get_their rights. They claim that government agents, when they want the Indians to sanction -their actions, gather a few select ones and misrepresent the real sentiment of the Indians. The progressives very strongly resent the intimation that Beaulieau ' and Carl had anything to do with the calling of this meeting. ‘t'he Fond du Lac band, the largest of the Chippewas, was the one that called the meeting. David Ruttle was chairman of the council and John Lemieux; secretary, when the ,arrangements were made looking to the calling of the Cass Lake council. The minutes of that meeting are in evidence here. The Fond ‘du Lacs claim that it is the usual government tactics to discredit any movement which would give the Chippewas a working organization. The credentials .committee had prepared a report for acceptance by the council, but inasmuch as there were about 300 Indians present it was thought best to allow them all a voice in the proceedings. In order to Paculiar After Effects o_t_sllp This Year LEAVES KIDNEYS IN WEAKENED CONDITION. Doctors in all parts of the country have been kept busy with the epi- demic of grip which has visited so many homes. The symptoms of grip this year are very distressing and leave the system in a run down con- dition, particularly the kidneys which seem to suffer most, as every victim complains of lame back and urinary troubles which should not be neglected, as these danger signals often lead to- more serious sickness, such as dreaded Bright’s Disease. Local druggists report a large sale on Dr. Kilmer’s Swamp-Root which so many people say soon' heals and strengthens the kidneys after an at- tack of grip. Swamp-Root is a great kidney, liver and bladder remedy, and, being an herbal compound, has a gentle healing effect on the kid- neys, which is almost immediately noticed by those who try it. Dr. Kil- mer & Co., Binghamton, N. Y., offer to send a sample bottle of Swamp- Root, free by mail, to every sufferer who requests it. A trial will convince anyone who may be in need of it. Re- gular size bottles fifty cents and $1. For sale at all druggists. Be sure to mention this paper.—Adv. offset the reports sent out by govern- ment men-antagonistic to the meet- ing, it was decided to present only a draft of a tentative constitution and by-laws for the permanent council and then send it out to all the differ- ent bands for approval in their own councils. * " In that way the moving spirits argue their motives will be best un- derstood and the support of all the Shippewas gained. The provision is made for delegate representation by all the bands at another conventfon to be called in about sixty days, al- lowing one delegate to each 100 members of the band which would make a convention of about 100 dele- gates. Joseph Northup of the Fon du Lacs, is chairman of this meeting and Henry Warren of ~the White Earth, is secretary. MANY BAD FIRES (Continued from first page). carrying an almost nude baby. TREAT FOR HOUSEKEEPERS Bemidji housekeepers are delighted with the delicious, nut-like flavor of |- “Minnesota’” Macaroni. Many say they never knew macaroni could taste so good and be so firm and nu- trious and flavory as the “Minneso- ta” Macaroni, now sold by leading Bemidji grocers. There is a big difference in maca- roni as sold in the stores. “Minneso- ta” Macaroni is made from the very best durum wheat with _all the wonderfully nourishing gluten left in. It is easily dibested, very nourish- ing, and costs only about one cent a dish.
