United States and Canada will be represented by star skaters at the world championship figure-skating events to be held at Vienna February 23, 1913, if the recommendation of Everett C. Brown is heeded by the A. A. U, officials in New York and Can- ada. Mr, Brown recently received the 'lollowlng letter from H. S. Wisinger of the committee of the Training Eis Club ot Austria: . “This year we celebrate the twenty- Afth anniversary of our ice clue and have received permission from the In- ternational Skating Union to hold the championship of the world in figure- skating here for the years 1912-1913. I am writing to ask you to use your in- fluence toward getting a representa- tive of America to take part in this championship—either American or Canadian. “The tournament will take place on February 23, 1918, and will not be postponed. I ask you in the interest of ice sport to kindly give this mat- ter your attentlon and ask you to write to the National Sporting Asso- clation of Canada (Mr. Louis Ruben- stein), asking his opinion.” Mr. Brown, who collected more mon- MERCHANTS ey than any other citizen in the Unit- ed States for the last Olympic games, has long championed the skating of international athletic events and was quick to approve the proposition. “I have recommended through the A.
