A crew of men are at work this morning cleaning up the new Great Northern depot. An engine has been put in use and steam from it is being used to clear the platform of ice and snow. The platform is over a block long and is made of large red bricks. A man wanted to send some mon- ey to his old mother in Ireland. He wasn’t sure the drafts from the Northern National Bank could reach out into the little town so far away. The attendance is quite good considering - the cold ‘weather of the past week. Miss Lu- cille Clark ‘of Bemidji, *has been se- cured to complete the term-in the Aldrich school, which was left vacant by'the resignation of Miss Back. Mr. and Mrs. H. Aldrich, both of whom have been on the sick list dur- ing ‘the past two weeks, are improv- ing. Mrs. J. McMann i8 just recovering from a sliight illness. Arthur West is laid up with the rheumatism. A meeting of the Eckles Co-opera- tive Store association was held last week. Plans were made for building a 16x24 addition to the store build- ing to hold the increasing stock of goods. Arrangements were made for the handling of all kinds of green [|and dry wood. It was also decided to look up a potato market for the convenience of the farmers, who still have many bushels of potatoes stored away in their cellars. The Farmers’ club did. not meet this month on account of" the cold weather. Next month’s meeting will probably be held at the store. Miss Francis-Bowers, who is-teach- ing at Inez, was at home for her Christmas vacation, returning to her duties this week.
