EASY AND SURE WAY 10 CURE COLDS Don’t Neglect a Cold, Ely’s Cream Balm Will Stop it in the Sneez- ing Stage. A cold generally attacks the weak- est part, affecting the eyes and ears in some and producing nasal catarrh and throat troubles in others. A cold is due to an inflammation of the mem- brane lining the air passages, and may be promptly cured with a little Ely's Cream Balm, which immediate- ly relieves the inflammation and all the distressing symptoms, such as sneesing, coughing,' running at the nose and eyes, hoarseness, sore throat fever and headache. One reason why this pure, antiseptic Balm acts so quickly is because it is applied direct- 1y to the tender, sore surfaces. Even in severe ,chronic cases of ca- tarrh, Ely’s Cream Balm never fails to quickly and effectually check the poisonous discharges which clogs the head and throat, causing the disgust- ing hawking, spitting and blowing of the nose. This remedy not only driv- es out the disease, but heals and strenthens the weakened membranes, thus ending catarrh. Catarrh is a filthy, disgusting dis- ease. Don’t put up with it another dsy. Get a 50 cent bottle of Ely’s Cream Balm from your druggist and 808 how quickly you will be relieved. It is perfectly harmless.—Ady. REPORT It was the climate for the most part that led to the settlement of st3 T B o g et o of the Condition of the among the sturdiest upon the surface Northern National Bank at of the earth. The early explorers, - Bemidji, in the State (Confinued on 1aat page). of Minnesota, HOW'S THIS? (Continued from page 3) farmer may still increase the value of his output many fold. The lumbering industry of the state is fast decreasing in importance. The removal of the forests perhaps makes this self-evident. It is interesting, however, to note that the long cold winter and the accumulation of snow effects very materially the success of a Jumbering season. The snow cover- make hauling of the timber from for- est to saw-mill and market relatively easy. An open winter, that is, a win- ter with mild temperatures and little snow handicaps operations seriously. An early spring involving the melt- ing of snow and softening of country roads often curtails the season by a month or six weeks. Hence a thor- ough study of climatic characteristics of any lumbering area may be worth; much in determining the kind of sea- son for which to prepare, the possibil- ities of cutting for many months, the latest date for hauling the cut to the mill and various other activities re- lated to the industry. Mining Depends On Climate. Few people associate climate with mining and yet the relation is very significant. It is especially so in the case of open pit mining such as is conducted on the Minnesota ranges. An early winter and late spring cuts off the mining season at both ends. The amount of ore mined is depend- ent in a large measure upon the length of the shipping season. Ore is sent to eastern marxkets via Du- luth, Two Harbors and the Great Lakes. When the lakes freeze navi- gation ceases; or whenever the Sault Ste. Marie canal freezes navigation between the upper and lower lakes ceases. Therefore it is of little use to continue mining ore if it cannot be moved. Operations are not re- sumed in spring until shortly before navigation opens. If the shipping season starts late then mining begins Iate. Hence the output for any giv- on year is very largely a factor of the ed road, the frozen road and lakes,|" We offer One Hundred Dollars Re- ¥ ward for sn% c:!e I‘t}f Fattarh that can- AT THB CLOSE orIBIISlNBss not be cure Y all's Catarrh Cure.
