Had it been possible for every man and woman of Bemidji to attend the banquet served Saturday evening in the High school to the Commercial and University speakers, nome of them would have c‘iouhtéd the value of the domestic science courses after nishing the meal. The food was ex- cellent, the table nicely appointed and the service better than that found -many times in so-called first class .hotels. : B While there are seldom occasions in any home where the cook has to prepare for- thirty-six ‘people, yet the ability -to- be- able fo- do so should it be necessary is. a part of the train- ing -the high school girls are receiy- ing:- It is during, their ordinary clasges that they learn the cooking the of ionship comes to him as a hard earn- ed reward. Philosophic Resignation. “Does it take two of you to inten view me?” asked Senator Sorghum, “No,” replied the patient scribe; “I brought my friend along so that you, could give him first chance at the de- nial in case your constituents don't Indorse what you say.” Its Nature. “I heard that the men striking for more money, made a descent on the office.” N “They merely went to present their grievances in a procession.” “Well, didn't I say it was & pay- rald?” I0WA MAN STUCK WITH PITCHFORK A farmer living in the Northern part of Iowa stuck himself in the leg with a pitchfork. The wound would not heal and for two years he had a running sore. He tried all the com- mon salves and liniments and some- times the sore would heal, but it al- ways broke open again. Finally he healed it up to stay healed with Allen’s Ulcerine Salve. : This salve is one of the oldest rem- edies in America and since 1869 it has been known as the only salve powerful enough to cure chronic ul- cers and old sores of long standing. Allen’s Ulcerine Salve acts by drawing out the poisons and healing the sore from the bottom up. It is so powerful that it heals new cuts and sores in one-third the time that com- mon salves and liniments take. And it heals burns and scalds without a Wwhich goes with the life of the aver- age family, The entire banquet Sat- urday was prepared and served by the- girls and Miss Eddy, the instruc- ~-.Nat a Jittle gredit belongs to Miss -, fop it, .was_her 'plnmiing and ge. that made the et possible. Champions of the North. Bemidji people may justly be proud of the football team which has represented the high school this year. It has made a Tecord which places it in a class by itself and the team will go down in history as the 1912 champions of Northern Minne- sota. The district includes every- thing between East Grand Forks and Duluth; and from Brainerd north, The work of the team Saturday was a revelation to those who had not been following it closely during the long weeks of practice this fall. The difference between the team Sat- urday and at Grand Rapids three weeks before was remarked upon by many who saw both games. In their last game of the season, the ends re- fused to allow themselves to be box- ed, the tackles and guards broke through Grand Rapids line at will often tackling the runner for a loss. The work of Jim Sullivan in his last game was a revelation of what he is capable. In the back field, the men ran- their - interference solidly and the man with the ball had plenty. of chances to make the required gains. Only once or twice was the team so hard pushed that the ball had to be punted. Tackling was the best of the season and it was seldom that a Grand Rapids man got away for a long gain. For Bemidji, football is over for the season. While the boys on the team deserve the consideration and congratulations of the city, it should be remembered that a large part of their success is due to the coach, " Earl Carson, who stayed with the team and worked with the men when it looked as though Bemidji would be beaten by ovéty team it played.
