It is a great reflection on the courts that Thaw was taken out of the sanitarium six times and brought before the court on the the- ory that the other courts were wrong. Is it possible that doubt hangs over a court’s action as long as there is money to challenge it?” Commission Government. Tonight at the High School audi- torium Doctor J. S. Young of the Uni- versity of Minnesota will address an audience of Bemidji citizens on the commission form of government. It is a subject and address which should be heard by every loyal citizen. It is the form of government Bemidji should seriously consider for adop- tion. It will mean a new charter and the kind of charter that governs a city is an expression of the charac- ter of the city and its people. Every city has character the same as an individual. It’s reputation is what other people think of it, and its reputation is determined by its char- acter. The character of a city is the aver- age character of its citizens. If we as individuals are honest, square and progressive citizens, with faith in our fellow men and their ability to make good if given a fair show; with the inclination to give everyone a “square deal” and a kind word, then these qualities make up the character of our city. There are dishonest cities; proud cities, cities that are “money-mad”, unjust cities, foolish cities, and un- progressive cities “dead-towns” as well as honest, just and progressive cities, It’s the citizens of a city that make living in that city desirable or um- desirable. All the fine parks and buildings and natural advantages in the world, of themselves, cannot make a city truly livaple. It’s the people of a city that make life worth while. Grand Duke Adolph Frederick of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, whom rumor says has been selected as the future husband of the Princess Victoria Lo- uise only daughter of the German Emperor and Empress, was born June 17, 1882. He is the eldenst son of the reigning Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Strelitz and a brother of the Princess Militza of Montene- gro. The reigning house of Meck- lenburg-Strelitz was founded more than two centuries ago by Adolph Frederick, the second youngest son of Duke Adolph Frederick I. of Meck- lenburg. The duchey is one of the smallest of the German empire, but at the same time it is considered a very important factor of imperial unty.
