SAGE TEA WLLL DARKEN THE HAIR Restore Faded and Gray Hair to Na- tural Color— Dandruff Quickly Removed. There is nothing new about the idea of using Sage for restoring the color of the hair. Our grandmothers kept their hair dark, glossy and abun- dant by the use of a simple “Sage Tea.” Whenever their hair fell out or took on a dull, faded or streaked appearance, they made a brewof Sage leaves, and applied it to their hair with wonderfully beneficial effect. Nowadays we don’t have to resort to the old-time tiresome method of gathering the herbs and making the tea. This is done by skillful chemists better than we could do it ourselves; and all we have to do is to call for the rgady made product. Wyeth’s Sage and Suiphur Hair Remedy, con- taining Sage in the proper strength, ; with the addition of Sulphur, another old-time scalp remedy. Tihs preparation gives youthful color and beauty to the hair, and is one of the best remedies you can use for dandruff, dry, feverish, itching scalp, and falling hair. Get a fifty cent bottle from your druggist today, and you will be surprised at the quick results. Smallpox is no Yonger feared by civ: ilized' mankind. This is partly due, no doubt, to the immunization of the Taces through vaccination, and partly to the better methods of sanitation and preventive treatment generally, In the first year of our occupation of the Philippines, where smallpox was then an endemic or constant disease there were 675 cases among our sol diers and 240 deaths. A system of rigid vaccination was adopted, and in the last five years there have been only five cases and not a single death, The army records in Porto Rico tell the same story, and seem to prove beyond question the efficacy of vac cination. Dr. 8. C. Rockhill of Cin. cinnati reports that he has had much success in preventing the pock mark: ing of the face in smallpox cases by painting the pustules with a lotion of nine parts glycerine and one part iodine. By this treatment also the patients get over the attack in from eight to fifteen days. Others prevent the pitting by keeping the patients in a room where no light whatever but red light enters.—Pathfinder. —_— Manufacture of Maniacs. At a recent congress of neurology a Paper was read in which the move- ment by which the growing young man caresses the first shoots on his upper Up was labeled moustachiostrep- somania; the habit of Twi cane seen in old drum majors, ltl‘!p-. sorhabdomania; that of putting the lit- tle finger into the ear, otodactylo- mania. Then we have “stomatodactyl- omaniacs” who put the finger into the mouth, “onychophagomaniacs” who bite their nails, “harmoniomaniacs” who drum with their fingers on win- dow panes or tables and “trepodo- manjacs” who nervously move their legs. Saved the Cat’s Life. A cat that was sunning itself on a platform before a store in Barclay street suddenly arose, stretched and walked to the exact middle of the street, where it lay down on the wooden pavement, relates the New York Tribune. A truck came rapidly down the street, but the driver saw the sleeping animal and turned his team aside. The cat never so much as wiggled an ear. The first vehicle was followed by a second, the driver again avoiding a fatality. Several wagons passed and the cat still re- mained unscathed. Then a man who had been watching from the sidewalk, picked a banana peel out of the gutter and threw it at the cat, waking it up and sending it scurrying to a nearby doorstep. “A cat has only nine lives,” the man sald, “and eight wagons have barely missed running over it. I thought I had better save its last life before the next truck passed.” Didn’t Know He Did It I Col. G. M. Quarles, a tobacco plante . - - . er in Christian county, Ky., had a ne- gro man servant named Mose. Mose was driving his boss into a town one day when he suddenly remarked: “Marse Garrett, dey had me up befoah my church las’ night fur dancin’.” “I don’t suppose you were guilty— were you, Mose?” asked the colonel. “Yas, suh; yas, sub,” and dey proved hit on me, too; but I come clear. My friends sflxck to ‘me close; and, after dem other niggers had done testified ag’inst me my friends all got up and testified dat, though it was true I danced, I was so drunk at de time 1 - didn’t know whut I was doin’. So 1| & come clear—and the preacher ’scused me!”—Saturday Evening Post. Cyclist Chased by Lions. Two motor cyclists, Mr. and Mrs. Macdonald, the former a magistrate at Mzimba, while returning from the Zomba (Central Africa) coronation ceremonies, were chased for five miles by two lions, which showed no fear of the noise made by the engines, and galloped after the motor cyclists with evident determination to kil them. The llons were finally outdistanced, and the riders, suffering greatly frcm nervous strain, reached their home in safety.—Livingstonia News. 00 ORK CONFECTIo" Treat yourself to a nick- el’s worth.
