DANE, Edit . H. DENU. A Body Blow. The action of the Republican na- tional committee in seating Taft del- egates from states in which there are contests is a body blow for Roosavelt. This will give Taft seventy-two more delegates in the temporary organi- zation. The completed organization may overrule the committee, but the seventy-two votes will be a big item for Taft if such a ballot is taken. Does Bemidji Need Street Cars? For some time there has been an agitation for a street car line for Be- midji, the advocates of the plan stat- ing that the traffic around the south- ern end of the lake is sufficient to warrant the construction of a small system. Today the general manager of the Grand Forks system is in the city looking over the situation and he will deliver his opinion this even- ing in the Commercial club rooms. If the time is ripe for a car line for Bemidji, an organized effort should be made to get such a system built. If the time is not ripe, it is well to know it now and then let the matter drop until such a time comes. Re-apportionment Up Today. According to the schedule of the house in the state legislature, a bill for reapportionment will be intro- duced and considered this mornin. Sentiment in the house itself appears to be divided and it is said that the senate is opposed to such a bill. Un- der the circumstances, it is hardly possible that northern Minnesota will get justice at the special session. It is said that one purpose in in- troducing the bill is to allow mem- bers from districts that want reap- portionment to go on record and so save their faces to their conmstitu- ents. Such a practics is pernicious, since it is not only deceiving, but is also wasteful of the state’s time and money. If a reapportionment bill comes to a vote, it will at least show the complexion of the house in the matter. One on Winter. “Back in fifteen minutes—Win- ter.” Judging from the weather during the past month Mr. G. G. Winter was perfectly justified in placing the above sign in the window of the Crookston Lumber company land of- fiez Saturday afternoon, while he de- paried for a short period of a quarter of an hour.
