Re-apportionment, The action of the state senate yes- terday in adopting a resolution call- ing for the consideration of but two measures at the special session and entirely ignoring re-apportionment should rouse to arms every man that wants a square deal for the north country. 1t is expressly provided in the con- stitution that the legislaure sitting after an enumeration of the state or the United States has the power to redistrict the state in order to give equitable apportionment to all sec- tions. If re-apportionment is not provided for at this session of the legislature, it cannot again be legal- ly taken up until 1916, which is af- ter the state enumeration of 1915. The southern part of the state has the north in its power and will con- tinue to have just as long as the men from this section allow themselves to be used as tools. Nicollet county, with a population of 14,125 has one senator and his voice is equal to that of Senator Hanson whe represents this district of Beltrami, Clearwater, Norman, Mahnomen, Pennington and Red Lake counties with a popula- tion of 58,842, Northern Minnesota wants re-ap- portionment just as much as it wants good roads. It is a constitutional privilege that all people shall be equally taxed. The people of this section should bring all possible pres- sure to bear on the legislature for the passing of an equitable bill. If this is not done now, it will be.many months before another opportunity presents itself. THIS DATE IN HISTORY.
