The Mankato Free Press has com- piled some statistics from the new pension law and believing that they will be of interest to pensioners in this vicinity, the Pioneer takes lib- erty of reprinting the editorial. “The new pension act approved May 11, base_d upon age, length and service of the veteran of the civil and Mexican wars, will increase the pen- sion budget about $23,000,000 an- nually, according to estimates. 'The sentiment in congress was practica.- 1y unanimous in favor of the in- creased rate of pension covered in th: new law, and there were very few dissenting votes in either the house or senate. The law is based upon the age of the claimant and the length of his service.
