HAROLD J. DANE, Editor. The Agricultural Special. Farmers and merchants who deail with farm implements should avail themselves of the opportunity of see- ing model agricultural implements, poultry, dairy and farm stock and exhibits of agricultural stock that will be in Bemidji Saturday night and Sunday on the M. and I and N P. special. This train is similar to the one recently run over the Duluth and Tron Range railroad but will reach an entirely different territory. It is the first time that such an exhibit has been brought to Bemidji and will give the farmers and others inter- ested an opportunity to get in touch with up-to-date models. Between Two Big Interests. Many Dbusiness men have been lieard to say lately that the present fight for the Republican presiden- tial nomination ‘looks like a fight between two sets of interests each trying to have its own men nominat- ed. In either case it looks bad for the common people. The delegates pledged to date seem to be nearly split even between Taft and Roose velt and at present the outlook for a third man to step in does not look bad. Justice Hughes has been spok- en of as a compromise candidate. At any rate, the Chicago convention is due to go down in history as one of the greatest ever held. It may be the last one, as direct presidential primaries make conventions unneces- sary. Theatrical Attractions. Bemidji has no place in which a|J theatrical company can present & lirst-class attraction. The Armory and city hall each have poor seat-|j ing arrangements, worse dressing rooms and scenery painted when Be- midji was a lumber jack town of unpaved streets and oil lamps. Con- sequently it is almost impossible to secure the best outside attractions. It is only through the fact that the company has an open date between Duluth and Winnipeg that enables it to stop in Bemidji one night to|§ present “Graustark.” The play is fcunded on a good book, the company is better than the average seen in this country and barring the disad- * vantages caused by poor facilities, should be able to present a pleasing performance. Many towns smaller than Bemid- ji have first-class play houses and|g support them in a paying manher.|g Bemidji is on a natural circuit of Crookston, Grand Forks, Winnipeg and Duluth and could get many good attractions if an opera built here. The city needs one which could be used for an auditor- ium. house was T. R., He Speaks. (Milwaukee Sentinel).
