With the reading of a petition to the council last night calling for the making of a boulevard of Minnesota avenue above Tenth street, a move- ment to make boulevards of all the avenues after they reach the resi- dence sections has been started. On the recommendation of the council, the Minnesota avenue petition was returned, to be made over to read from Seventh street north instead of Tenth street. It is proposed to have a thirty-two foot avenue and to have the lawns on each side come out to the curbing. If this is done on all of the avenues, Bemidji will have boulevards all through the residence section above Seven st "« movement is wortk: 5 o1 o.zonent as boule- varas 12 impression of long .delightful resi- dener - Te.. The Dunn amendment by increasing the tax, will make the amount avail- able for good roads four times that available now. If there is one thing that North- ern Minnesota needs badly it is good roads. In other parts of the state, the communities have been settled for many years and their roads are well laid. They have been cut through the prairie where often but little more is needed than a ditch and a rounded roadbed. In this part of the state, the situation is different. We are. in the midst of what I8 known as the “park region,” the home of the great Minnesota timber. Our roads oftentimes lie through cut over lands and the expemse of cut- vote for the Dunn amendment next fall.
