London, July 28.—With the cheers of many enthusiasts ringing in their ears, sixteen members of the Corin- thian Football Club sailed away on the Canadian Pacific liner Empress of Britain today for America, where they are to engage in a series of gridiron contests during the mnext two months. The team will land in Quebec, and will cross Canada to the Pacific, playing in a number of the principal cities, such, as Montreal, Toronto, Winnipeg, Calgary and Vancouver. On the return journey the team will make a digression into the United States, where matches have been arranged at Chicago, Phi- ladelphia and New York, For World’s Sculling Title. Syndney, N. S. W., July 28.—The sculling match for the champion- ship of the world between-Richard Arnst of New Zealand and Harry Pearce of Australia will be rowed to- morrow on the Paramatta river. The contest will take place over a course. of three and a half miles. The stakes are $2,500 a side.
