R. F. MURPHY FUNERAL DIRECTOR AND EMBALMER Office:313 Beltram| Ave. :Phone 319-2. Matt Thome's Have you been to see him? He operates the George McTaggart Buffett on Bel- trami Ave. opposite the City Drug Store. He is always pleased to meet old acquaintances locally, as well as among the travel- ing public. HE dainty frock at the left is of I white voile made up over pink taffeta. It is in empire style, shirred at the top and again at the bottom, where it is finished with a rufie edged with Irish lace. It is trimmed with folds of the pink taffeta and Irish lace insertion. The one on the largest girl is of white pique. The skirt is encircled with a wide band of English embroi- dery and with tucks which are em- brobdered with dots. The jacket is Dainty _C_c_)stfiméS trimmed in the same way and orna. mented with pearl buttons. The col- lar 18 of English embroldery bordered with the dotted bands. The charming little coat is of light blue alpaca. One side of the front is turned back to form a large revers and the coat is trimmed in front and back with sfrapl of the material fast- ened with gold buttons. The collar and cuffs are of guipure finished, to look their best, with little plaitings of fine lace. ELASTIC SIDE GUSSETS USED Boon to Those of Stout Figure Are the New Corsets of Very Long . - Hip Cut. Hlastic side gussets are introduced on corsets of very long hip cut, as shown' in our {llustration, and stout figures especlally can be assured of fddea snmness in those shapes, Whicn particularly give flat hips. A reduction in the circumference jt the figure of from three to five inches 1s an: important consideration to the smart woman, even if she now does not exceed an average build; ev- ery garment, as she well knows, looks and wears 0 much more advanta- geously on a slim figure, provided that the rounded lines are. preserved and | -the whole is well proportioned. There 18 no reason in these days why grace, increased support and comfort to the figure, extra slimness and consequent additional smartness should not all be achieved at the same time by the wearing of good though not neces sarily expensive up-to-date corsets. The big, heavy woman, however, will do well to wear the special belt corsets which have reached such per- fection this season. These are most comfortable to wear, besides making the figure inches smaller; therefore they will be found invaluable to those- of corpulent or inclined to that build. The particular feature of this sea- eon’s corsets, however, for ordinary figures is, as our f{llustrations show, ' | thelr straight fit over the hips and abdomen, but their ‘construction and style of cutting make them “git” most comfortably, while affording extra ab- dominal compression and support. . - Pins Handy. Many dressmakers have a long, nar- row pincushion fastened around the waist on a belt; but a better plan, says a Ladies’ Home Journal, is to have a small round cushion and attach to it an elastic band from one side to the other, just large enough to slip comfortably over the hand and hold on the left wrist. The pins are al- ways in sight by this method and easy to take out. Anthracite Beads. New beads are made of porcelain, wood and even rubber, but latest of all is the black anthracite bead, which is the most beautiful of all, says an exchange. As the light glan- ces on these, one sees flashes of blue and red. : Just Help Himself. He—If I tried to kiss you would you call for help?
