Depue, for three years the cashier of the Citizens’ State Bank of Brainerd, has resigned and has acquired an interest in the Brainerd State bank and assumed a position as its cashier. Jay A. Batchelder, who was for many years cashier of the old Northern Pacific bank'and then spent three years in the Nome district of Alaska, returned home last week. He has acquired an in. terest in the Citizens’ State Bank of Brainerd and assumed the position of cashier. Work was started on the new Edie Clothing Co.’s building. The work is being done by John Love of Little Falls, assisted by John Can- field of the same city. The build- ing will be 49x70 one story. The | structure is going to be built up for permanent use and will be rushed to completion as rapidly as possible. Mitchell Burton of the firm of Burton Bros., of International Falls, was here Tuesday to start the work off. He was greatly pleased at the pro- gress shown here and says that Spooner is going to be a fine place. —Spooner Northern News. A couple of Jerusslemites picked up a car of junk on the ruins of Baudette and Spooner the past week. They picked up some nice little piles of valuable salvage without the per- mission of the owners, some of which they were expressly instructed not lo touch. They got the car out of town before their theft was dis- covered, and made themselves scarce about the same time. Corporal -George Occhionero, formerly the Assistand of Sergeant Fernando L. Birrer, in charge of the United States Marine Corps Recruit- ing Station at O’Leary & Bowser Building, this city, has been trans- ferred to Ashland, Wis.,, to take charge of an office in that city. In recognition of his services he has been appointed a Sergeant of Marines by First Lieut. Russell H. Davis, the officer in charge of the Recruiting District of Minnesota. Corporal Albert A, Hanemann, formerly on duty at the Recruiting Station in Minneapolisis now the able assistant of Sergeant Birrer, Lieut. Davis is in Bemidji. Heisa guest at the home of his cousin Mrs. J. F. Essler, whom he had not seen for twelve 'years. Rev. and Mrs, Flesher were given a reception last night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Rich- ards, by the Methodist Ladies’ Aid Society. Rev. Flesher is the paster of the local M. E. church and has been bere but a short time, The Richards home was prettily decorated for the occasion, Rev, and Mrs, Flesher, Mr, and Mrs. J. M. Richards and Mrs. A. A. Andrews received the guests as they arrived, Rev. S, E. P, White of the Presbyterian church and Rev. H Robinson McKee of the Baptist church spoke a few words of welcome to' Rev. Flesher and his family. Miss Grest and Prof. W. Z. Robinson sang a duet; - Mrs. Dunning a soprano solo and Mr. C. J. Woodmansee a tenor solo.
