Wright of Park Rapids came to Bemidji yes- terday and last evening conferred with Judge C. W. Stanton on work connected with the courts. The Soo track laying crew is ex- pected toreach Wilton, seven miles west by tonight. This will leave less than twenty miles of steel yet to be put down. Work of putting the road bed into shape is going ahead as rapidly as possible. J. H. Matatson a farmer near the village of Tenstrike came to Bemidji this morning loaded with exhibits for the countv fair. Mr. Matat- son has 107 acres under cultiva- tion. His wheat crop yielded from 25 to 40 bushels an acre. He has water melons that weigh nearly 15 pounds and corn stalks that are almost 15 feet in height. Fair goers will see exhibits in farm products from this county that will eclipse anything ever brought to a county fair. The Bemidji Tigers football team will play the Bemidji chiefs at the fair grounds Sunday. The teams are about evenly divided so far as weight is concerned and a battle royal is expected. An ad- mittance fee of Twenty-five cents will be charged. The Tigers are under the charge of acting Man- ager Jack Hillaby and acting Cap- tain Hanson. The club has not as yet formally elected officers. The team is made up as follows: Mantor, Quarter back; Ken Kelly, R. T.; Geo. Hanson, R. H.; Jack Hillaby, F, B.; Ted Getchell, L, H.; C. This committee has been busy pre- paring the report for the past week. It contains a complete analysis of the finances of the club. G. E. Marshall and wife of Cass Lake are in Bemidji to look after their small child, who has been seri- ously ill at the St. Anthony hospital, but who is so far recovered that it can be taken home this week.
