SHERMAN APPEALS TO PARTY Vice President Argues for Adherence to Republican Principles. Enid, Okla., Sept. 3.—It was a straight, old fashioned Republican talk that Vice President Sherman gave an immense crowd gathered in front of the courthouse. Party arguments were hurled at the listeners, who were assured that Republicanism and prosperity were synonymous. The Democratic party, declared Mr. Sherman, spelled disaster, and he in- vited voters who desired hard times to bring about a return of the rival organization to power. The vice president repeated his statements of Wednesday that he did not wish to drive any true Republican out of the party. Every true party member, he declared, was “progress- ive” for the Republican was the party of progress. A Letter. Grandview, Ia., Aug. 27th, 1910. Barker’s Drug Company, Bemidji, Minn.
