I am informed that State Auditor Iverson has bad a re-examination made of many of the lands in Cass and Itasca counties, on which there are settlers who disputed the correct- ness of the swamp land surveys. In practically all the cases which have came to my notice, it has been found on re-examination that the settlers were right, and I am informed that the settlers have been told that the state will relinquish itsclaim. I am told by a man who was with the state’s examiners that Mr. Iverson’s deputy after walking over a certain tract, which had been classified as over half swamp, exclaimed “If there is any swamp on this, I don’t know what swamp is.” Had the settlers in Koochiching County had such fair minded re-examiners, _how much money would it not havesaved Kooch- iching county.
