Fines aggre- gating $18,000 were imposed by United States Circuit Judge Van Fleet. Rains End Black Hills Fires. Deadwood, S. D., July 4.—Heavy showers effectually put an end to the remnants of the numerous forest fires that have been devastating the Black Hills natio-al forest for the last ten days. The fires have burned over sev- eral thousand acres of the best timber in the Central hills, but the exact loss has not yet been estimated by the forestry officials. Death Penalty for Kidnapping.
