FUNERAL OF EDWARD LEAVES SORE SPOTS| Austrian Archduke and French Officials -Displeased. * London, May 24.—The sudden de- parture of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, heir apparent to the throne of Aus- tria, on the evening of the funeral of King Edward-is' now said to have been to mark his displeasure at the place allotted to him ‘in the procession, where he had to ride behind Czar Fer- dinand of Bulgaria and in line with a prince of the Ottoman empire. The French authorities also strong- ly resent the fact that M. Pinchon, the special envoy of France, should be forced to five precedence to three princes of the house of Orleans, who rode in the procession. The French press is making trouble on this point and blames the Duke of Norfolk, as the earl marshal. A . As a matter of fact the arranging of royal precedence caused the duke end- less trouble and nothing was done without the assent of King George,| who showed great decision in solving the problem presented to him. Some radical papers here are also criticising the accommodations offered members of parliament to view the fu- neral. The matter will be brought up when the house of commons reassem- bles.
