Mr, White will spend the two weeks on business in Min- neapolis. Considerable discussion has en- sued among the members of the local Methodist church since the announcement of Mr. White's de- parture. Some have suggested that it would be a good idea for the local members to identify themselves with the Baptist and the Presbyter- ian churches. One member in speaking of Mr. White’s departure this morning, said, “I believe it would be a good thing for our people to put off building a new church a few years and join the Baptist and Presbyterian churches, thus making two large Protestant churches in Bemidji.” The plan is entirely unlikely according to the opinion of Dr.- E. A. Shannon, treasurer of the Metho- dist church in Bemidji. Dr. Shan- non in an interview this afternoon said, “It 15 highly improbable that any such division of the church will occur and I do not think the plan a wise one. *‘The Bemidji church has $5,000 in'cash and notes and a lot at the corner of Ninth and Beltrami avenue which 1s easily worth $1,000. The notes would be un- collectable in case of a division aud the cash and the church prop. erty would refund to the General Methodist Episcopal extension board, thus making it hard to secure money in the future to erect another church in Bemidji. “Rev. Henry Nobbs, formerly traveling Sunday school missionary for the Northern Minnesota M. E. conference, is expected in Bemidji tonight to iake temporary charge of the church. He will hold services here for two or three Sundays and may stay here”. Card of Thanks. We wish to express our apprecia- tion and heartfelt thanks to the fire department and citizens of Be- midji and Nymore and also to our neighbors who so kindly and bravely aided in the attempt to save our buildings from the flames on Sun- day afternoon. It left of the room and demolished a cot. The larger part, of one of the boil- ers, weighing several tons, was hurled 1,000 feet over the top of the building fifty feet high into a field beyond, A twisted steel bar dropped like a bomb ‘through the Toof of a residence 300 feet away, tearing-a bed to pieces.
