A like move in Itasca county would be a good tonic for Grand Rapids.—Itasca Independent. If news paper talk counts, and in most cases it does, it seems that from the majority of papers com- menting upon the outcome for con- gress man in this district, that Steenerson in his next campaign will have the united support of both the Stephens and Hanson factions. This will mean practically a solid republican vote for Steenerson north of Ottertail county, with the exception of Becker, which county is the home of Bjerze. From present conditions it is thought that this county is rather divided. Heretofore, these two factions were supposed to be luke warm with Steenerson, and while not openly opposing him were not enthusiastically fighting in his behalf. More can be said, when the fightis on in earnest. Many towns in their municipal advertising have found it wise to adopt a trade-mark or phrase in order that the effect of the advertising may be accumulative. Minneapolis has adopted the phrase, “Minneapolis Makes Good,” printed in an attrac- tive design. So far, however, Detroit seems to have the most takingephrase, “In Detroit Life is Worth Living.” A number of large business houses of that city have this slogan printed on their stationery and circulars, IfI lived in Detroit I would be ashamed to send out a single piece of printed matter that did not contain this phrase. There are only a few words, and there is room for the phrase on every bit of business literature, whether letter heads, bill heads, circulars, or newspaper advertising. When you hear the knocker knock- ing this section of Minnesota, just ask him where he can find soil that will grow clover and all tame grasses as we do here. Ask him where he can raise more potatoes per acre or better ones. Ask him the particular spot on God’s green earth that can compete with us raising vegetables. Ask him where the climate is any healthier or where purer water can be found. Ask him just where he can goto finda better class of people who consider schools and churches first and provide them in a new country as has been done here. Then if you wish to rub itin just ask how much good he has ever been to any community and if there is any spot on earth that the Almighty has seenfit to fix up to suit him. Its a twenty to one shot he will not be able taanswer one quiz of the bunch intelligently, and if he could he wouldn’t do it.—Pine River Sentinel. l BY THE WAY I A noisy winner generally makes a poor loser when things are reversed. Because a man had his own rights trampled on is no excuse for his walking over others. No man is either quite as good or as bad as he thinks. When women are without vanity and men without hypocrisy the mil- lenium will have arrived. Suffragists ~have found a place where their voices are not heard, and they are trying to get in. The place is the divorce congress. NATURE TELLS YOU As Manya Bemidji Reader Knows Too Well. When the kidneys are sick, Nature tells you all about it. The urine is nature’s calendar.
