Lowney’s chocolate bon bons as well as a complete line of all other fine confections. SCHOOL BOARD THANKED PEOPLE WHO ASSISTED Rejected the Application of Prof. A. P. Ritchie as Superintendent of Bemidji Schools. At a meeting of the School Board held on Wednesday, February 17th, the attention of the Board was called to the fact that all those who contributed to the preparation and rendition of the musical pro- gram at the dedication exercises of the new high-school building did so without any compensation, and thereupon the board unanimously passed the following resolution. “Resolved by the School Board of Independent School District of Be- midji that we hereby tender a vote of thanks to the members of Masten’s Orchestra and to all those who so ably assisted in preparing and carrying out the musical pro- gram at the dedication exercises of the new high-school. building. “Resolved further that a copy of this resolution be delivered to the Bemidji Pioneer and the Bemidji Sentinel for publication.” When the matter of the selection of a Superintendent of Schools .was taken up by the Board, Professor Ritchie was present and on being asked whether he would accept a reappointment as superintendent {stated that he would accept such appointment only upon the .condi- tions that he be employed for a term of two years, at a salary of $2,000 per year. The Board thereupon proceeded to vote upon the appointment of Superintendent Ritchie upon the terms and conditions above stated, and the chair declared the proposi- tion lost. High School Plays Were Good. Before a large and enthusiastic audience the High school plays, *Mr. Bob” and “Engaging Jeanette” were produced last night, at the armory. Although conditions were not entirely favorable, there were about 300 present. After two selections by the new High School Orchestra, the curtain was raised and ' Engaging Jeanette,” a farce comedy in one act, was pro- duced. This play was very well rendered and won the enthusiastic applause of all. “Mr. Bob,” a two.act play, was next on the program. Not a - mis- take or blunder was made during the entire play, and much talent was displayed. Miss Rica Graling, whoinstructed and directed the participants, deserves special credit. It was due largely to her efforts that this enter- tainment was given, and her assis- tance is appreciated by all. Lack of space forbids mention of these plays. further Ernest Fisher Co. Will Saturday Night. The Ernest Fisher company, which _was to-have played ‘‘The Heir tothe Hoorah”at the City Opera House ‘Monday evening, but was prevented because of the wreck near Walker, will appear next Saturday eveuning, when the great play will be presented. Kansas City, Feb. 18.—The coldest weather of the winter prevails in ‘Western Kansas, Colorado and parts of Wyoming. The cold also was very gevere in Oklahoma, Texas and other portions of the Southwest. The Kan- sas temperatures ranged from 10 de- grees above to 4 below.
