" Entored In the Postofflco at Bemidjl, Minnesota, as sscon class matter, SUBSCRIPTION---$5.00 PER YEAR IN ADVANGE Bro. F. A. Dare, of the Walker Pilot, has threatened us with grevi- ous bodily harm if we persist in referring to him as A, N. Dare. Don’t blame him one bit. When a young fellow is making such strides to the front of the editorial column as is the Walker man, it is unjust and unfair to keep his light hidden under the glare shed by another man who has already made his mark in the editorial “‘arena,” as it were. We're really sorry, Farley, and we’ll try not to offend again. It’s F. A. Dare. STRONG FOR GOVERNOR EBERHART. The Red Wing Republican, one of leading publications of southern Minneseta, has come out strongly in supporting Governor Eberhart for the republican nomination for gov- ernor, and says that it is about time that those who have been subjecting the governor to a most rigid test as to his ability as the chief execu- tive of the state came out and ac- knowledged that Governor Eberhart has indeed been weighed in the bal- ance and found not wanting. As Tams Bixby is at the head of the Red Wing paper, the remarks anent Governor Eberhart are very significent as showing the trend of opinion of those of the republican leaders who have been “‘keeping tab” on the manner in which the affairs of the governor’s office have been conducted since the demise of the late Governor Johnson. Now, ifa few of the more promi- nent of the ‘“hold-outs” will just give the governor fair consideration in arriving at their conclusions, the G. O. P. of Minnesota will soon again be a united party and can swamp the “dems” with ease. “KOLL'S KOLUMN.” M. N. Koll, ex-receiver of the U. S. land office at Cass Lake, has started a political column in the Cass Lake Times, under the caption of “Koll’s Kolumn,” which bids fair to become an exceedingly interest- ing corner of the Times. Mr. Koll has been in politics many years, and he has participated in scores of battles for the G. O. P, and he knows a whole lot about “harmony” and “discord” that would prove exceedingly interesting reading, were he to write his opinions. Mr. Koll has been mentioned as a possible candidate for the republi- can nomination for state treasurer and also as state auditor; but in a recent conversation with the writer the Cass Lake man stated emphati- cally that he was a candidate for no office, but that he proposed to “have some fun with the fellows” who are prominent in state and county politics.
