THE BEMIDJI DAILY PIONEER PUBLISKED EVERY AFTERNOON EXCEFT SURDAY BY THE BEMIDJI PIONEER PUBLISHING CO. ©C. J. PRYOR. C. E. CARSON. A. G. RUTLEDGE, Editor. Eatered In the Postofflce at Bemid)l, Minnesota, as secon class matter. SUBSGRIPTION:--$5.00 PER YEARCIN ADVANGE ] We have heard much about that “new steel plant for Duluth.” When the legislature was:in session last winter, that was one boast of the Zenith City members—they would have a great steel plant at Duluth. And: when the investigation com- mitee from the house wentover to Duluthand visited the proposed site of the big plant,a large gang of workmen were very busy “breaking ground” for the plant. Now, will some kind brother over at the head of the lakes inform us as to just how far that crew of laborers went toward “breaking grotind,” and if they are still “on the job?” We owe it to the community in which we live to do everything we can in every way possible that will be to its advantage. Our neighbor’s prosperity means a great deal more to us than someone’s who lives elsewhere. We should bear this in .mind in buying our goods. We can afford to pay our home man a firm price for his price rather than send our money away, know- ing as we do that every dollar our ewn citizen makes will help in sustaining our schools, churches and public institutions. It pays richly to patronize home industry—news- papers as well as other lines of business. LENNON DOSEN'T WANT TO BE A REPRE- SENTATIVE. Itis quite generally understood that Representative J. J. Opsahl will not be a candidate for re- election to represent the Sixty-first Legislative district, and since that impression has gone abroad, there bhas been much speculation as to who would be candidates for the republican nomination for represent- ative. One name which was suggested, and which has met with general ap- proval, was that of William Lennon of Kelliher. Mr. Lennon is a hard- working republican of the dyed-in- the-wool variety, and has always labored industriouly for the success of the republican ticket. He is a good “mixer,” and has friends in every part of the district. It isgen- erally conceded that he would make an-excellent representative. But Mr. Lennon has literally “thrown cold water” on the propo- sition of running him as a candidate for legislative honors, by declaring emphatically to a representative of the Pioneer that he would not for a moment: entertain any proposition which. bad in view his candidacy for the legislature. He stated that he could not afford to be a candi- date, -and - what was more had no desire to be a representative; and will not permit the use of his name. Mr. Lennon stated that any good man from Bemidji, or any qualified candidate which the people of Be- midji‘eould agree upon, would receive his hearty support and co-operation for election as representative. Mr. Hayner intends to move his family to Bemidji in the near future. Weeks, assistant attorney general, returned to St. Paul Wed- nesday night, after spending two days in Bemidji consulting with County Attorney McKusick relative to some legal matters in which the state is interested. John Larson, the local ‘“‘dead shot,” came down Tuesday morn- ing from Kelliher and spent Wednes- day in the city. He returned to Kelliher Wednesday evening to re- sume his hunt with Sam Marin, with whom he has been “trailing.” PO, Peterson -of Ada, sheriff of Norman county, was a visitor in Bemidji yesterday. Mr. Peterson left this morning for International Falls to take into custody: John Crogen, who is wanted at Ada. It appears that Crogen who solicited subscriptions throughout Norman county for a church. in. Norway, in some way became. involved whereby. he was charged with diverting the funds to his own use. Crogen solic- ited the funds about a year ago and left Ada. His whereabouts were ascertained the first of this week when' it was known that he was working at International Falls. Crogen will be taken to Ada, where he will probably “square” the deal in which he has been involved. Subscribe for The Pioneer. DOING THEIR DUTY Scores of Bemidji Readers Are Learn- ing the Duty of Kidneys. To filter the blood is the kidneys’ duty. When they fail to do this the kidneys are sick. Backache and many kidney ills follow; . Urinary trouble, diabetes, Doan’s Kidney Pills cure them all. Bemidji people endorse our claim. Frank Engles, 415 Minnesota Ave., Bemidji, Minn., says: “I have no hesitation in publicly recom- mending Doan’s Kidney Pills, as I am confident that my testimoni- al will be the means of bringing relief to other sufferers. There was a dull ache in the sma]l of my back for months. My kidneys were much disordered, the secretions being un- natural and at times there was a great deal of soreness across my loins. At last I decided to try Doan’s Kidney Pills and procured abox at the Owl Drug Store. FREE IF IT FAILS Your Money Back if You are Not Satis. fied with the Medicine We Recommend. We are so positive that our rem- edy will permanently relieve consti- pation, no matter how chronic it may be, that we offer to furnish the medicine at our expense should it fail to produce satisfactory results. It is worse than useless to attempt to cure constipation with cathartic drugs. Laxatives or cathartics do much harm. They cause a reaction, irritate and weaken the bowels and tend to make constipation more chronic, Besides, their use hecomes a habit that is dangerous. Constipation is caused by a weak- ness of the nerves and muscles of the large intestine or descending colon. To expect permanent relief you must therefore tone up and strengthen these organs and restore them to healthier activity. The discovery of the active prin- ciple of our remedy involved the labor of the world’s greatest research chemists. As an active agent it possesses the valuable qualities of the best known intestinal tonics as well as being particularly pleasant and prompt in its results. We want you to try Rexall Order- lies on our recommendation.
