Entered In the Postoffice at Bemldl, Minnesota, as second p class matter. SUBSCRIPTION---85.00 PER YEAR(IN ADVANGE PATRONIZING THE PRINTER. The printers of the country have done nobly toward encouraging trad- ing with the home merchants. Now let’s start something with the end in view of encouraging patronizing the home printer.—Grand Rapids Independent. The above suggestion is timely— encouraging patronizing the home printer. There is no more loyal class of people on earth than news- paper publishers. They advocate home patronage, while at the same time they often receive bills from mer- chants that are made out on Mica Axle Grease or some other stock stationary, which is furnished the merchant by the company he deals with, or stationary which is printed in St. Paul, St. Louis or some other place because a few cents are saved; and the printer cheerfully pays the bill, never alluding to the job of printing which he should have had from the man whom he is patronizing. Sometking should be started along this line, in self-defense. SHOULD ALL PULL TOGETHER. Grand Rapids Independent: “Doc” Rutledge, the versatile man- aging editor of the Bemidji Pioneer, accompanied the Bemidji football team Sunday in the role of chief sponsor and chaperon. “Doc” wit- nessed the foot ball game and he expressed himself as very much pleased over the way the Bemidji boys were treated, and over the clean game put up by our boys. “There is no necessity for all this hard feeling,” said “Doc,” “‘We are all living together up in this north country with the same end in view, to boost Northern Minnesota, and all our relations, athletic as well as otherwise, should be amicable.” GRASTY “LASTED QUICK.” Winnebago Free Press: The gentleman who came to Minnesota from the sunny south, Chas. Grasty, to teach the Gopher state how to run daily newspapers, has tired of! his job in a few short months, Like a good many other lesser lights Mr. Grasty’s long suit was gush, and it didn’t go down with Minnesotans. CAUSTIC COMMENT. (A. G. Rutledge.] Had he lived until this time, the psalmist might have written it “Texas declares the glory of God and Houston sheweth His handi- work.” A Boston court fined a man $10 for obeying his wife and ignoring a summons. If he had disobeyed his wife he might not have got off so easily. Passengers on a steamboat bound for New York spoke of shark shoot- ing as a “new sport.” As a matter of fact, the government has been gunning for western land sharks for some time. Spain continues to “get even” with America for the licking she got in 1908. The various varieties and subvarieties of Spanish swindl- ers garner their crop of dollars from the fields of American “suckers,” the year ’round. tU Bt BLUrrEY South Dakotan Progoses and Weds Within Two Hours. Le Reau, S. D, Nov. 13.—Within two minutes and upon a wager Con- ductor E. H. Killen of the Minneap- olis and St. Louis freight between Le Beau and Conde gained the consent of Miss Mina Ring, proprietress of a res- taurant here, and two hours later made her his wife before Rev. F. A. Gookin. The two hours delay between the beginning and culmination' of the ro- mance was spent by the groom to be in a whirlwind automobile ride to Selby, thirty miles northeast of ILe Beau and county seat of Walworth county, to get a license and by the bride In a hasty dressing for the ap- proaching event.
