D., arrived in the city yesterday and will spend several days at Lakeside, the summer resart on the northeast shore of Lake Be- midji. H.W. Alsop (whom many of his friends refer to as “uncle,”) left last evening for Tenstrike and went from that place to his farm home in the Town of Birch, ‘where he will remain over Sunday. Mr. Alsop is the very efficient deputy clerk of court who assists Clerk Rhoda during the sessions of dis- trict court; and he has a whole lot of friends among the habitues of the court house and taxpa.yers, jumrs' and attorneys and others who visit the court house. A large number of laboring men are being taken into the mnorth country, these days, to work in the logging camps that are being estab- lished for the preliminary work of laying out roads, etc., which has commenced in earnest before the actual winter’s work is on. A large number of the laboring men who have been working in the harvest and threshing fields of the Dakotas are returning this way, and the supply of men is more nearly equal- ing the demand than has been ‘the case for some time past. Kolste, local Norweigan Lutheran pastor, went “to Laporte this morninz. Rev. Kolste will conduct services in a school house east of Laporte tomorrow. He states that there "area goodly number of Norweigan Lutherans in the vicinity of Laporte, and that there are already two congregations, one east of Laporte and one west.'
