1 THE BEMIDJI DAILY PIONEER PUBLISHED NVERY AFTERNOON, BEMIDIJI PIONEER PUBLISHING 06: €. J. PRYOR. G E.CARSON. A. G. RUTLEDGE, News Editor. Tutered in the postofice at Bemidjl. Minn., second class matter. SUBSCRIPTION---$5.00 PER ANNUM SENTINEL CHANGES MANAGEMENT. The local columns of this week’s Bemidji Sentinel contain the an- nouncement, ‘“Sentinel Changes Management.” The article is signed by Andrew Rood, who states that prior to this week’sissue of the Sentinel he “looked after” the editorial and mechanical end of the Sentinel, while T. O. Melby directed the business policy of the paper. Who ‘‘directed” the editorial policy of the paper is not stated. Mr. Rood states that the Sentinel “will endeavor to publish the news as concisely as space will permit, always endeavoring to be sure of the facts.” He also states that the “Sentinel has no axe to grind,” etc. In the carrying out of the announced policy of the Sentinel the Pioneer wishes Mr. Rood every success; but if the gentleman still presists in the statement, which he made some time ago, that he will “make trouble for the Pionoer,” he will find us in the field prepared at all times to protect our interests. The Pioneer only wishes to co- operate with its contemporary in the up-building of this community, Bel trami county and the state at large, and so long as we are given fraternal treatment by that paper we will be found to be with them at all times. The Pioneer will exhibit a little more fraternal spirit towards the new lessee: of the Sentinel than was accorded us by him when we recently merged with the Record, in wishing him every success. The-bold, bad man who is now editing. the “News and Comment” column,of the Duluth News-Tribune, says of the Pioneer: “The Bemidji Pioneer is improv- ing rapidly as a newspaper, and ought to be appreciated in northern Minnesota.” “Bob” Dunn’s Princeton Union says: “Up to date Lieutenant Governor Eberhart is leading the pack in his race for the republican nomination for governor, as George F. Authier, the talented political editor of the Minneapolis Tribune, views it. Mr. Eberhart has the field all to him- self this year, but he may have com- pany in 1910.” And some are of the belief that the “company” which the lieutenant govornor may have in 1910 will be “Bob,” in person.
