They generally loaf around those who do not avertise, and as a consequence they are not disturbed much by customers. The loafers understand their business better than some merchants. Laporte News: The souvenir magazine edition of the Bemidji Pioneer, which has just been issued, is one of the best of its kind that we have even seen. Itis a model of artistic printing and it zives a clear, but seemingly not exaggerated his- tory of their progressive city, which is truly the hub of one of the finest countries on earth. Blame your doctor for bodily ills, lawyer for your losses, cook for your stomach, children for your bad tem- per, wife for all else that goes wrong, and then if you run out of advisaries, sum it up and jump onto your news- paper, as it is generally responsible | for all wrongs in sight, and a thous- and imaginary ones of a pessimistic individual. Bemidji people will be interested in the an- nouncement made by the new in- terests that Tams Bixby will be president and general manager of the Pioneer Press, under the new arrangements, ashe was under the old. Mr. Bixby has long been active in newspaper affairs of the state; he is a shrewd business man, a keen observer of political affairs, and will undoubtedly prove the “right man in the right place.” EVENTS OF IMPORTANGE IN THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS “‘Booster,” in His Usual Weekly Letter, Tells of the Happenings Among the Scholars. A social “hop” was given last Saturday ‘evening after the -base- ball game by the Bemidji boys in honor of the Fosston nine. “Terry” Alm, Fosston’s star all- around athlete, played third base in last Saturday’s contest, and his work helped a lot in his team’s winning. Although the literary societies were not started until late such interest has been manifested in them that they will be recognized next year.
