Feldman of Northome re- turned home last evening after visiting a week in this city on account of the illness of his daugh- ter, Mrs. A. Hagberg of this city. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Jones of Deer River arrived in the city yes- terday afternoon and departed last evening for a brief visit with friends in some of the north-country towns. Miss Anna Mills and Miss Mildred Woodruff came in this morning from their schools at Turtle River for a short visitat their homes in this city. They expect to return to Turtle River this evening. S. C. Bagley', one of the early lumbermen of this section of the country, returned to his home in Fosston on this morning’s train after transacting business in Bemidji for a few days. Mrs. Charles Swedback of Big Falls came in from the “Falls” this morning and Mr. Swedback an- nounces that they will make their home from now on in this city. O. B. Olson, who is engaged in the mercantile business at Kelli- her, passed through the city last evening on his way home from Armena, Wis.,, and the twin cities, where he spent several days on business. A. E. Solberg, of the Big Falls Mercantile company, passed through Bemidji last night on his return to the “Falls” from Spring Grove, in the southern part of the state, where he had been visiting for a week at his old home. J. Barackman, pastor of the Presbyterian church of Black- duck, came in this morning for a three days’ visit in Bemidji. Mr. Barackman will preach at both ser- vices tomorrow in the Presbyterian church in this city and Reverend S. E. P. White will go to the “Duck” this evening and hold services there. John B. Wilm of Northome, owner of the Northome Record, and one of the “live wires” of that thriving village, came down this morning from his home and spent the day among old Bemidji friends. John was once foreman of the Pioneer job department, and proved to be one of the best printers in this section. His work since going to Northome has borne out early predictions as to the ability of Mr. Wilm, who has “made good” with his paper and also as a progressive and wide-awake “'booster” for Northome. furnished. Oscar recently underwent a successful operation for appendicitis in the St. Anthony’s hospital in this city. Miss Haldeman, the public stenographer, returned to the city this morning from International Falls where she acted as referee for the Supreme Court in taking the testimony in the Forrier-McIntosh] election contest case. involving the office of sheriff of Koochiching county. The hearing was held yes- terday and Thursday. The trans- cripts of the testimony will be re- turned to the Supreme Court and the date of thefinal hearing set, when the case will be submitted by briefs and arguments. Miss Louise Smith of Seattle, Wash., who has been visiting her sister, Mrs. Sam Carrigan of this city, departed this morning for Minneapolis where she will visit with relatives for a week. Miss Smith expects to return to Bemidji and spend the summer here. A. K. Mcpherson of Walker, who represents the Pillsbury Timber company -in this part of the state, arrived in the city last night from Bena and Deer River where he spent several days on business for the company. He returned to Walker this morning for an over-Sunday visit with his family. Judge M. A. Spooner of this city and Attorney George E. Spear of Grand Rapids returned this morn- ing from International Falls where they appeared respectively for Henry W. Forrier of Littlefork and Hugh MclIntosh of International Falls in the Koochiching county election contest case before a referee ap- pointed by the Supreme Court. Howard Dea, general superin- tendent of the Shevlin mills in this portion of the state, returned to the city this morning from Spooner where he went to look over the new Sbevlin-Mathieu mill. Mr. Dea re- ports that the new mill, which is as large as the Crookston Lumber com- pany’s mill here, was started up last Monday and is running nicely. Additional local matter on second page. This was the decision reached by the state board of medical exam- iners in session here. It was found that physicians from the East with consumption were com- ing to Oklahoma to practice, hoping to benefit their health.
