W. H. Gill of Granfalls came in yesterday morning and went over to the United States land office in Cass Lake, coming batk on the Great Northera train in the afternoon and } | leaving last night for Blackduck for a brief business visit. Oscar T. Stenvick of Bagley, the county attorney of Clearwater county, came over yesterday noon for a few hours’ business visit in the city, returning home on the west- bound Great Northern passenger train in the afternoon. Arne Solberg, formerly of this city but who is now living on a home- stead near Quiring, returned home last evening, accompanied by his little son, after spending the day in this city as a witness for some appli- cants for citizenship papers. Mr. Under- wood. has but recently returned from a business trip to British Columbia, where he had been look- ing over the country with a view to locating there. Mr. Underwood states that he liked the situation and outlook there and that he in- tends to leave in about a month to make his permanent home in British Columbia. “Dick” has state, and there will be sincere regret when he leaves for other re- mote parts to live permanently. Friedrichshafen, March 17.—Count von Zeppelin’s new model airship, with the inventor and four other men on board, made a successful descent in a fleld on the shore of the Lake of Constance. It has been asserted that the count could not land on the ground without an especially. built platform, but this has now been disproved. The alrship came easily to the earth and after remaining for some time reas- cended and returned to the balloon shed on the lake.
