Nary, of Park Rapids, who looks after the interests of the Pills- bury Timber company of Minne- apolis, spent last night in this city as a guest at the Markham hotel. Peter Larkin, one of the well known residents of Turtle River and president of the village council at that place, arrived on this morning’s train for a short business visit in th city. S A. E. Witting, who is in partner- ship with Charles Trondson in the lumber business at Blackduck, arriv- ed in Bemidji on this morning’s train and will visit over Sunday with his family. Miss Mae Smith of this city re- turned on this morning’s train from Blackduck where she has been help- ing Mrs. E. N. French, formerly of Bemidji, with some dressmaking dur- ing the last ten days. Cahill has re- turned from a ten days’ visit at his old home in Janesville, in the south- ern part of the state, - Mrs. Chris Heiren of this city departed on the M. & I. passenger train this morning for Brainerd to visit over Sunday with relatives. Jim Henderson and Benjamin Johnson were two Wilton visitors in the city yesterday, returning home on the belated afternoon train, M. C. Jennings, who deals in cedar posts and ties at Fowlds, spent yesterday on business in this city and returned home on the Red Lake train in the afternoon. Otto Peterson, local representa- tive of the L. K. Deal Lumber com- pany, returned on this rorning’s train from Gemmell, near where he spent two days securing cedar for his company. C. H. Gardner, who looks after the logging department of the Grand Forks Lumber compang, returned to Bemidji this morning from a few days’ visit at the company’s camps near Blackduck. Miss Alice Mills, - daughter of Harry Mills of this -city, came in last night from Walker, where she is teaching the eighth grade of the public schools, for a short wvisit at her‘home in this city. M. Blooston, manager of the Ber- man Clothing store of this city, ac- companied by his wife, left on this morning’s south-bound passenger train for Minneapolis where they will visit a few days at their -former home. Naish McKinnon, who owns a “refreshment parlor” in this city and engages in logging in this vicinity, left on the south-bound M. & 1. passenger ‘train this morning for Minneapolis on a few days’ busi- ness trip, R A. B. Clair, whose home is at Grand Rapids and who is engaged in the timber business at Northome, came in from the -latter village this morning and left on the noon train for the “Rapids” to spend Sunday with his family, F. S. Lycan, of the Markham hotel, and A. P, White, president of the Lumbermens National Bank of this city, returned yesterday after- noon by way of Duluth from St. Paul where they did some very effec- tive work towards securing a sixth normal school for northerr Minne- sota. Wessel, one of the well known commercial travelers in this section of the country and who is a member of the'State Game & Fish commission, returned to the city this morning from International Falls where he spent a few ‘days on business for Wessel Brothers of St. Paul, Mrs. Fred Luken of Brainerd, who has been 'spending a few days on business in this city, returned home on the M. & I. passenger train this morning. Mrs. Luken was accom- panied by Miss Kirk, the Ilittle daughter of George Kirk of this city who will visit a few days at the Luken home. Mr. and Mrs. V. W. Tremain, who owned a part interest in the hotel at Big Falls which was burned recently, arrived in the city yester- day morning and left'on the west- bound train in the afternoon for Monroe, Washington, where Mr. Tremain expects to go into business again. Attorney E. E. McDonald re- turned to' the city yesterday noon from Bagley where he spent two days looking after the interésts of the Crookston Lumber company in a2 $4,000 land overflowage case. The case, together with a few others, was settled out of court. Mr. Mc- Dopald also attended to some other business at the Clearwater term of the district court which is now in session. Mr. Patterson said that his daughter, Arvilla, who attended the Bemidji High scheol last winter, will teach school near Wilton com- ruencing February 8th.
