GOMPANY K WILL HAVE A NEW SET OF UNIFORMS The Olive-Drab Color Will Be Placed in General Use by the Militia. Captian Otto, of Company K, Third Regiment, Minnesota National Guard, Bemidji’s quota of national defenders, has been notified that the militia boys are to receive a new olive-drab service uniform. The notice to that effect is as follows: “General Orders, No. 17. “The issue to the Minnesota National guard of the service (olive- drab) uniforms will be made as rapidly as the articles required for and to be procured by purchase are received. “In order to complete the full ecquipment of all troops this year, the strictest economy must be prac- ticed and no surplus stock for con- tingencies or exchange of sizes wiil be available. “Company, battery commanders and rsgimental adjutants will there- fore submit, without delay, requisi- tions for actual number of service coats, breeches and caps needed by the enlisted men now under their command. “When received by troops the ser- vice uniforms will be wora on all occasions of duty at home stations, except paradesand other occasions of ceremony when the dress uniform may be used at the discretion of commanding officers. The issue of the khaki field uni- form will not be discontinued but will be used as heretofore in annual camp. “By command of the Governor, “Fred B. Wood, “Adjutant General.” After the weekly drill last evening the members of Company K were measured for uniforms conforming with above order, which will be secured in the very near future. NEW REBEKAH LODGE WAS INSTITUTED LAST NIGHT “Fairview,” of Mizpah, Is Name of New Lodge.—Big Bemidji Delega- tion Present. “Fairview,” Rebekah lodge No. 128, is the name of the new Rebekah lodge which was instituted in Miz- pah last night by Mrs. Evelyn Just of Crookston, state president of the Rebekahs. The instituting of the lodge was an event of much importance at Mizpah and was attended by a large num- ber of Rebekah members frcm out- side lodges, among whom were twenty-eight members of the Bemidji Rebekahs, ten from Blackduck and two from Bagley. The degree team of the Bemidji lodge, under the direction of Mrs. C. L. Atwood, captain, exemplified the secret work and performed so as to receive much praise from the state president. The work of insti- tuting the lodge was not concluded until the early-morning hours, but the occasion was a very pleasant one, despite the tedious work necessary to start the lodge. The lodge starts out with thirteen charter members, and despite the “hoodoo” which the sceptic connect with the number thirteen, a bright future is predicted for the ‘‘Fair- view” Rebekah lodge. During the night a splendid supper was served, and refreshments were also served this morning prior to the departure of the train for Be- midji. The following are the officers of the lodge who were elected at last night’s meeting: N. G., Amy Buckmaster; V. G., Hattie Seaman; rec, sec., Belle Com- stock; treas., Etta Francis. The following are the members of the lodge, in addition to the officers: Sisters—Mabel Potter,Myrtle Mc- Farland, Sarah Hanchett. Brothers—A. H. Hanchett, S. Buckmaster, D. V. Francis, E. W. Francis, F. C. Grover and Edmund Hendrickson. The Odd Fellows of Mizpah have just completed an elegant new lodge building, which will be dedicated on December 11. The meeting hall in the building is very conveniently arranged, being provided with a kitchen and other necessary acces- sories of a first-class lodge hall. Raw Furs Are Lower. The price to be paid for furs this winter will be lower than those which prevailed last year, acccord- ing to the editor of the International Falls Echo, who has been investigat- ing the matter, and who says: “A Chicago raw fur house, which does a large business with Northern Minnesota trappers, has issued its first price list of the season, with an explanation to the effect that as the fur season is just beginning, values are not yet fully established, but they are given with as much accur- acy as possible. “Taken as a whole, prices for raw fur this fall will not be as high as last, according to the circular in question, which is conceded to be one of the most reliable lissued. In a few cases better prices will be obtained, but the average will be| NEARING END OF NARRATIVE lower, although in very few instances have there been any very great John D.
