The operatta ‘“‘Sylvia,” which is to be presented at the City Opera House May 19, promises to be one of the best entertainments ever given by local talent. J. O. Harris and F. S. Arnold left this afternoon tor Thief River Falls and Greenbush, where they will look over some lands in Roseau county with a view to investing. They expect to be away about ten days. The loose logs which have been floating in Lake Bemidji for several days have all been gathered together and returned to the booms on the east shore of the lake. They in- terferred somewhat with the opera- tions of the launches on the lake. Mr. and Mrs. A. OKelliher of Blackduck passed through the city last evening, returning to Blackduck from Minneapolis. Atlantic, Ia, May 13.—Charles Don- ovan was arrested here by officers of Jefferson county, Wis. Two 'years ago Donovan, it is alleged, assaulted a young girl, afterwards stealing a horse in his effort to escape. After a thrill- ing pursuit he was caught and jailed. On New Year's eve in 1906, while the sheriff was at a watch party, Donovan broke jail and freed two others. Since then every effort to capture him had proved futile.
