They change their act tonight. Theodore Gullickson, agent for the Hamm “brew,” returned last night from a business trip to Crookston. Blakeley returned to his home at Farley last evening, after having spent yesterday in the city. Bloom, a prominent farmer of Spaulding, was a visitor in the city today, having come in from his home this morning. R. J. Poupore, of the timber firm of Poupore Bros., left last evening for Shooks Spur, having come in yesterday afternoon from Duluth. Charles S. Hughes left last even- ing for Kelliher and will go from there to the Battle River country for a week’s stay in the “tall timber.” Patronize the entertainment to be given by the public schools at the City Opera house next Monday evening, and help a worthy endeavor. S. G. Byerly, traveling auditor for - | the Duluth Brewing company,is a visitor in the city today, conferring with J. P. Signel, local agent for the company. J. C. Schultz, traveling auditor for the M. & I. railway, passed -through the city last evening on his way from Brainerd to Interna- tional Falls. W. A. McDonald, proprietor of the Model Bakery, went to Black- duck last evening on a business trip in the interest of his “bake shop,” as he put it. Henry Logan, the traveling rep- resentative for the St. Benedictine Sisters’ hospitals, left last evening to visit the logging camps in the vicinity of Blackduck. Bert Day, who was elected justice of the peace at the election held in Bagley Tuesday, came over from Bagley yesterday and went to Big Falls last evening, on a business trip. Governor Johnson of Minne- sota says that the Great Way is the cleverest man in the world with his hands. Way can be seen to- night at the Brinkman Family Theatre. Harry Johnson, son of L. F. John- son, left last evening for Black- duck, where he is looking after the cutting of timber in four camps for the C. A. Smith Timber company of Minneapolis. A. L. Wyler left this morning for Milwaukee, his former home, where he will visit for a fortnight. There is a grave suspicion that Abe will witness the Pepke-Kelly prize fight before he returns home. Mrs. E. Dahl and daughter arrived in the city last night from Christiana, Norway, and will hereafter make their home in this city with Mr. Dahl E. Dahlisa brother of Julius and Andrew Dahl of this city. John J. O’Neil, the logget, passed through the city last evening on his way to Northome from a visit at Stillwater. Mr. O’Neil says that he expects to leave for Vancouver in about three weeks, to make his home there, permanently. The public schools will give a public entertainment at the City Opera house next Monday evening. The proceeds will be devoted to purchasing frames for the $150 col- lection of pictures owned by the school. Evetyone should attend. Chet Snow returned this morning from a visit to his farm west of Turtle River. Matt Jones, who owns a refresh- ment parlor at Northome, was a visitor in the city today. kalsoming call on Barnell and Hand, south of Hotel Burroughs. L. F. Johnson, general manager forthe C. A. Smith Timber com- pany, left this morning on a business trip to Tenkins. W. R. McKenzie, of the Donald Land & Lumber company, went to Northome last evening in the interest of his company. The junior class of the Bemidji High School will hold a pie social in the school building, Friday even- ing, March 13. Price 15c. Mrs. Boran of Minneapolis arrived in the city last evening. She is an officer of the Ladies’ Catholic Order of Foresters, and intends to organize a lodge of that order in this city. Ben Lyon returned this morning from the Tamarac river, where he has been visiting with his brother, Frank. The latter is one of the pioneer residents of the Red Lake country. J. W. Johnson and Ole Ferguson came over yesterday afternoon from their homes at Cass Lake and trans- acted business in the city until the night train went east, when they returned home. There will be a regular meeting of the Bemidji M. B. A. lodge at the hall this evening. The men will give a supper and it is expected that there will be a very interesting session of the lodge. A. H. Harris, traveling represent- ative for the Melges Bros. company, the local commission merchants, left this morning for Merrifield. Mr. Harris returned last evening from Wadena, and reports that the busi- ness of his firm is very gratifying. H. W. Alsop, town clerk of the Town of Birch, came in last evening from his home near Rebedew post- office. He left last night for Fargo, where he will visit for some time, Mr. Alsop was elected assessor of Birch township, at the election held Tuesday. P, lodge which was held Tuesday evening was one of the most pleasant gatherings of the lodge that has ever been held since its organization. A number of the ladies were present at the social session, and all the knights and their company were greatly pleased with the meeting. Mrs. M. Cunningham left this morning for a ten days’ trip to the twin cities where she will look up the latest styles in dressmaking for her parlors in this city. While there Mrs. Cunningham will be joined for a short visit by her daughter, Olive, who is attending the Ladies’ Luth- eran Seminary at Red Wing. William Blocker is now a resident of Bemidji, and will make his home in this city, hereafter. Mr. Blocker has been a “farmsteader” for the past two years, but has decided to cast his lot in the metropolis, again. He will conduct a hotel here, and is now busily engaged in renovating his propertyof Minnesota avenue into a hostelry. Frank Braceline of Crookston, district manager for the Northwest- ern Telephone Exchange company, cameover from Crookston yester- day and conferred: with Charles Bang, local manager for this com- pany. Mr. Braceline found every- thing moving: along nicely in the local exchange, and stated that he was well pleased with the work be- ing done by Manager Bang. J. W. Works of Man- kato arrived.in the city last evening for a visit ofa few days in this vicinity, during which he will look after his various property interests hereabouts. W. M. Hughes of Crookston, in- spector for the U. S. postoffice de! partment, arrived in the city yester- day evening from Mildred, wheres he had been on an official trip.
