The news of the death of Mrs. Ward came as a shock to her many in Bemidji, although her death was not entirely unexpected by her relatives. Mrs. Ward has been more or less of an invalid during the past year, and the last six weeks she has been anything but a well woman. Mrs. Ward left here about six weeks ago for Rochester, Wis., and from that time has been failing in health. The ! father and a sister of the deceased being buried there. Dr. and Mrs. Ward came to this city about eight years ago, and have made their home here since then, both being well known here. Mrs. Ward was a sister-in-law of Mrs. A. E. Henderson of this city, Dr. Ward being Mrs. Henderson’s brother. Besides her leaves a son. husband deceased The sympathy of all citizens is extended to Dr. Ward in his be- reavement. CATCHING GREASED PIG. alleges that the city charter and the published notice for bids pro- vided that a certified check in the amount of ten per cent of the bid upon a local bank must accompany the bid. Mr. O’Connell’s bid was $5,432, and was' accompanied by a certified check upon the Lumber- men’s Bank of Bemidji for $400. The complaint further allegel that there was no such bank in ex- istence, and that the check should have been in the amount of $543.20. Also that W. N. Bowser, vice presi- dent of the council, in violation of the charter, guaranteed ‘the differ- Minneapolis was the next lowest, being $5,443.20, but as this firm withdrew its bid and certified check, the Jerrard Plumbing company would have the lowest bid. The injunction was issued yester- day, subject to Mr. Jerrard filing a bond of $500, which the -latter did. At the meeting ' of ‘the - council held last evening, the matter was disposed of by ordering the city clerk to re-advertise for bids for the letting of the contract for the build- of the sewer extension,the bids to be opened at a meeting of the council to be held Monday evening, July 15.; The order issued by Judge Spooner is given above.
