Kline, the veteran gen- eral manager of the Walker & Akeley Logging company’s business in this north country,.came up last evening and spent last night in the city. He left this morning for Laporte, where his company has extensive interests. They are good entertainers, presenting a repertoire of all the latest feats in up-to-date hypnotism, telepathy and gymnastics. Matt Jones,the Northome dispen- ser of things drinkable, came down this morning from his home and left on this noon train for Duluth and the twin cities. Matt was ac- companied by Dr. Miller, who is taking care of the practice of Dr. Ward of Northome, while the latter is absent in Wisconsin. H. C, Tousley, one of the “head pushes” for the Red River Lumber company, came up from Akeley last eyening and will remain in this city for some time to come. Mr. Tousley will oversee the work of loading the Tabor Lumber company’s logs along the right-of-way of the M. & I. rail- way, which have come into the possession of the Walker & Akeley Logging company. Mrs. “Rube” asserts that she is growing a fine patch of ‘‘sockless” sunflowers in her_garden, the seed for which was furnished by Fred Jordan, L B. Fisher of Crookston was in the city today, having come over from hio home last night, — Mr. Fish- er is clerk in the Reutell clothing store at Crookston, and came here for the purpose of acting as *‘best man” at the wedding of his friend, R. R. Ashley. J. E. Carpenter of Crookston, head of the machinery firm of Larsen & Carpenter of Crookston, came over from the “Queen City” yester- day. He was accompanied by C, W. Smallwood and R. L.
