Harry Mills, roadmaster for, the M. & 1. railway, went .to Big Falls last evening on a tour of inspection of the work that is being done by the gravel trains in surfacing the roadbed from Northome north toward Big Falls. Mr. and Mrs. Nels Otterstad of Turtle River came down from their home this morning. They will leave tonight for Duluth, and Mrs. Otter- stad will make final proof, at the Duluth land office tomorrow, on a stone and timber claim. Attorney E. E. McDonald has been at Cass Lake during the past two days, as attorney in a case which is being tried at that place. He came over from the “Lake” last evening and spent the night in the city, returning again this morning. Attorney Henry Funkley came over from Cass Lake last evening and spenr the night here, returning to the “Lake” again this morning. Mr. Funkley appeared for the county in the preliminary hearing of W.S. Munn, charged with murder- ing Franklin, which was held before Justice Slocum last evening. The Jerrard Plumbing company has been awarded the contract to put in the steam-heating ‘plant in the new.Thome & Mayer brick block, the contract being let yesterday.
